Nowadays, the Philippines suffers lots of struggles in
the environment. Lying across the pacific ring of fire, suffering from natural
disasters often is expected. But as years passed by, the number of disasters
crashing to our country rapidly grow.
Being prepared is everything. That’s why this month, the
country celebrates National Disaster Resilience Month with the theme,
“Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro para sa Tunay na Pagbabago.” This aims to inform
people about the importance of being disaster-ready to promote zero causality. To
refrain from sufferings through effective risk management. In the end, this
activity aims to portray and develop Filipino’s resiliency in facing
disasters.
Filipinos tend to live the “Manñana Habit.” A habit that
makes Filipinos lazy. This is one of the reasons why we suffer badly at the
end, especially when disasters attack. We are lacking discipline. With this,
the economy is also affected. How can we change our country’s stand today, when
its countrymen won’t even try to act or even hard-headed?
It has been proven that the effects of disasters are one of
the causes of poverty in our country. Disaster’s impact on our life is
unpredictable. But one thing is surely predictable, that when you are prepared,
you’ll be benefited and may refrain from major casualties due to disasters.
Disaster can change your way of living or even take your life within a click.
Being prepared my seemed to be a simple thing, but it can carry your life.
Informing people what to do with disasters is very
significant. Having a simple survival kit in your home is already helpful.
Imagine all Filipinos are prepared, no wonder our country will be greatly
benefited. The government continues to advocate Filipinos the importance of
being prepared, then the real problem is us.
The effect of disaster is unpredictable because it is within
us on how we deal with it. It is not a battle against disasters, but a battle
against yourself. A battle on how you control yourself on preparing. For no
matter how weak a typhoon is for example, if you’re not prepared, then the
impact on you is greatly bad. Sometimes, we need to face the reality of life,
that we are dependent on ourselves.
In the end, preparing is the key. Just depending on luck
is is no. For life is short. Want to live life longer and to the fullest?
Prepare and have a kit, that’s what you should do.
